It’s been a busy and educational winter for the ITC team. We attended (and some of us presented at) the ICE Conference in the final week of February. Among the themes that stood out: Growth Mindset, Failing Forward (FAIL = First Attempt In Learning), Student creativity and sharing through digital tools, and the Maker Movement. Breakout EDU was also huge at ICE '16, and I've begun to collaborate with some of the Carpenter teachers and staff about implementing some Breakout lessons in classrooms.
I met several teachers whose school libraries have been converted to incorporate makerspaces, and the possibilities for student creativity and exploration are exciting. I’m hoping to schedule some visits to other schools’ makerspaces in the coming months as part of my continued learning and research.
This Friday we’ll be attending the Apple Briefing in downtown Chicago. I’m hoping we’ll get a preview of iOS 9.3, which promises to feature unique user logins. This could be a real game-changer for iPads in the classroom, eliminating headaches that result from sharing devices among and across classrooms.
